We both feel like it needs more flavor, however, we were curious if it was because of the noodles that we used. The recipe calls for Yakisoba Noodles. We couldn't find any so we use Ramen Noodles. It works, but like I said we were curious if the Ramen Noodles don't hold the flavor the same way.
So we decided to try it again!! This time I found noodles in the Asian Section of the grocery store (I shop at Walmart) that are Chow Mein Noodles and they are called Chuka Soba Noodles. We decided to add more cabbage this time and celery. Last time we only used celery seed which was just fine. Our opinion...... I don't think the Ramen Noodles hold flavor the same way. I also may have added a little more garlic then we did last time. But I felt like there was more flavor the second time around the Chuka Soba noodles seemed to add flavor as well. Use what you have it and give it a try! Let us know what you think!!
1/4 cup Soy Sauce
1 tbsp Brown Sugar
1-2 cloves grated Garlic
1 tsp fresh grated Ginger
Black Pepper, to taste
2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
15 oz Yakisoba Noodles (about, or Chuka Soba Noodles)
2/3 cup Celery, chopped diagonally
1/2 of a medium Onion, thinly sliced
2+ heaping cups chopped Cabbage
In a small bowl combine soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger and black pepper then set aside.
Remove noodles from packaging and discard flavor packaging.
(If using Yakisoba Noodles, rinse noodles, drain and set aside. If using Ramen of Chuka Soba Noodles, cook according to package directions and set aside.)
Heat oil in a large wok or skillet, add celery and onion and saute for several minutes until onions become soft and transparent.
Add cabbage and saute another few minutes until soft.
Add noodles and soy sauce mixture and heat for an addition 2-3 minutes or until noodles are heated through.
Serve immediately! :)
